“apologize to your body. maybe, that’s where the healing begins.”— Nayyirah Waheed, “Starting” (via wnq-anonymous)

“Now girls are often raised to see love only as giving. Women are praised for their love when that love is an act of giving. But to love is to give AND to take. Please love by giving, and by taking. Give and be given. If you are only giving and not taking, you’ll know. You’ll know from that small and true voice inside you that we females are so often socialized to silence. Don’t silence that voice. Dare to take.”— Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, commencement speech at Wellesley College
“You shine so brilliantly bright, but you seem so sad on days when no one is around. It hurts to see you cry, but it hurts tenfold to see your plastic smile. You wish to be held as you push away the hands that reach out to you, and watch silently as they leave. They wish to know about love, but you wish to know just a little more about yourself.”— Lukas W. // The one who can’t understand herself
No Words
I find that when I don’t have the words to say
It’s because today I can’t find beauty
Today I’ve lost my curiousity
I’ve exhausted the questions of “what is Love?” “Why are we here?”
Today I’m all skin and bones
A mind of emptiness and a heart of stone
So I thought
There’s something to be said about the silence in our minds
The space between the pages
The breaks between the lines
What exists in the dark,
Remains in the light and sometimes
Questions don’t need an answer
So I’ll keep asking because there’s beauty in the unknown
Those who wander in the dark long enough
Will see a new world when the sun kisses
The Appalachian mountains
To journey in the dark
Is to walk having faith in the world
